Installing SQL Client Libraries

Excel spreadsheets which connect to data in Microsoft SQL Server, like those that use the Comsense Data Warehouse, require a SQL Client on the Windows computer that is using Excel.

If you receive an error when you attempt to refresh data in your Excel spreadsheet that indicates:

The provider 'SQLNCLI11' is not registered, the SQL Client for SQL Server 2012 is required but has not yet been installed on this Windows machine.

Excel Dialog box; shows the message 'The provider SQLNCLI11 is not registered.'

To install the SQL Server Native Client for 2012 download and run one of the files below. 

For 64-bit versions of Windows download and run the attached file sqlncli11_x64.msi

For 32-bit versions of Windows download and run the attached file sqlncli11_x86.msi

 

If you receive an error when you attempt to refresh data in your Excel spreadsheet that indicates:

The provider 'SQLNCLI10' is not registered, the SQL Client for SQL Server 2008 is required but has not yet been installed on this Windows machine.

Comsense Error Message; shows the message 'The provider SQLNCLI11 is not registered.'

To install the SQL Server Native Client for 2008 download and run one of the files below. 

For 64-bit versions of Windows download and run the attached file sqlncli10_x64.msi

For 32-bit versions of Windows download and run the attached file sqlncli10_x86.msi
