When importing data from Excel files, the system relies on a database driver for Excel to be installed on the local system. This driver is normally installed along with Excel on the machine. However, some editions of Office may not include this driver, particularly some of the Office 365 editions of Office.
If you receive the error message below when attempting to import data from an Excel file, it may indicate that Excel is not installed on the machine, or the edition installed does not include the necessary driver.
Data source name not found and not default driver specified.
If Excel has indeed been installed on the machine and you still experience this error. You can download the data access drivers from Microsoft from the following URL:
Installing this redistributable package will install the Excel ODBC drivers necessary for the data import.
