Overview
The Hardware Set Copy tool is a function of the Hardware Set feature. This function allows users to copy hardware sets from other projects, or duplicate hardware sets within the same project.
How it works
The Hardware Set Copy tool copies the hardware set details and hardware items from the selected set into the current project. The hardware set details include Set Number, Description, Typical Opening Size, and Opening Type.
New Hardware Sets
The Hardware Set Copy tool will create a new hardware set(s) in the current project if the hardware set number does not exist.
Existing Hardware Sets
The Hardware Set Copy tool can replace an existing hardware set in the current project. When the copied hardware set number already exists in the current project, the tool will notify the user, and ask how to proceed.
Yes - The tool will replace the existing hardware set(s) and will create any hardware set(s) that do not exist. Note: All details and hardware items in the current set will be removed.
No - The tool will not change any existing hardware set(s) but will create any hardware set(s) that do not exist.
Cancel - The tool cancels the operation and no hardware set(s) will be created or replaced.
Bulk Copy Hardware Sets
The Hardware Set Copy tool allows users to copy multiple hardware sets in a single operation. When multiple hardware sets are selected the tool will create new or replace existing hardware sets.
Renaming Hardware Sets
The Hardware Set Copy tool allows users to rename the Hardware Set before copying it into the current project.
This can be used to prevent replacing an existing hardware set or to duplicate an existing hardware set.
