New Submittal: Creating & Updating Submittal Templates & Cover Pages

*Note: New Submittal feature is in preview and each user must enable the feature individually.

How to: Create and update templates for submittals and cover pages.

Purpose: Using templates reduces the time you spend creating your submittals.

Environment: Comsense Enterprise

Accessing Submittal Templates

Enterprise > Report > Report Management

In the left pane of Report Management window:

  1. Find your Division 
  2. Click Submittal Templates 
    • A list of the Divisions Submittal Templates will appear to the right of the Report Management menu

You can now create a new template.

Creating Submittal Templates

You create new templates in the submittal templates list using the fillable line item. The fillable line item is the last line in the list of templates.

In the fillable line item:

  1. Select your report preferences 
    • Scroll horizontally to see all preference selections

In the fillable line item of the Reports pane:

  1. Select a report from the drop-down list
    • Each report has a page break by default

  1. Repeat step 2 for each applicable report 
  2. Uncheck any page breaks
  3. Click Save

The default order is the same order you add the reports. Rearrange the reports by dragging and dropping the line items, see Creating Submittals for more details.

The submittal template is now accessible within the division.

Updating Cover Page Templates

Cover page templates are an easy way to complete your submittal in one export. Comsense has two preset cover pages for hardware submittals and door & frame submittals. You cannot currently create your own cover page templates in Comsense but you can update the preset templates.

Updating Cover Page Contents

In the left pane of Report Management window:

  1. Click Cover Pages
    • The Template List pane will populate with the two preset templates

In the Template List pane:

  1. Select the cover page line item
  2. Update the cover page format options
    • Scroll horizontally to see all format options

In the Values pane:

  1. Change or add any applicable values
  2. Drag & Drop the list values in the correct order

  1. Add any Custom Values
  2. Click Save

The cover page is now updated.

Creating Custom Values 

In the fillable line item under the Label column:

  1. Enter the custom value label

Under the Value column:

  1. Select Custom

Under the Custom Value column:

  1. Enter the custom value

Deleting Value Line Items

Using the button on the left of the label field, Select the line item and Press Delete on your keyboard.

Adding & Removing Division Access

You can choose which divisions can access certain cover pages. 

Adding Division Access

In the Template List pane:

  1. Select the appropriate cover page line item

In the Division pane:

  1. Right-click the empty space 
  2. Click Add Division
    • The Select Divisions window will open

  1. Select the appropriate division in Unassigned Divisions 
  2. Click > Button

  1. Repeat steps 3-4 for each division 
  2. Click OK
  3. Click Save

These divisions can now access this cover page.

Removing Division Access

In the Template List pane:

  1. Select the appropriate cover page line item

In the Division pane: 

  1. Select the appropriate division
  2. Right-click the empty space 
  3. Click Delete Division
  4. Repeat steps 2-3 for each division
  5. Click Save

These divisions can no longer access this cover page.
