Accessing the Reports Feature

You can access the Reports window under the Estimating menu and the Detailing menu. Always access the Reports window under the correct header to ensure you create the correct report.

Selecting a Project

The Report window automatically loads the last project that was open in Projects. To select a different project, you can search your project by:

Searching your Project by Project Code

The fastest way to open a project is by searching the project code. 

In the top-left Project search field of the Report window:

  1. Enter your project code

On your keyboard:

  1. Press Tab
    • Your project will open

You can now create reports using this project. 

Searching your Project by List

In the top-left Project search field of the Report window:

  1. Click the Magnifying Glass icon
    • Project Find window will open
  2. Click Find Now
    • Your list of projects will appear

  1. Find and select your project 
  2. Click Open

You can now create reports using this project. 

Searching your Projects by Text

Projects are searchable by most of the data you enter in Project Set Up. The search field for each parameter is directly above the column header.

In the top-left Project search field of the Report window:

  1. Click the Magnifying Glass button
    • Project Find window will open 
  2. Type project data in the search field above the corresponding column header
    • I.e. Type the project name in the Project Name search field

  1. Click Find Now
    • The list of projects will populate
  2. Find and Select your project 
  3. Click Open

You can now create reports using this project. 

Selecting Report Preferences

You can select specific preferences within individual reports. Each report has a different set of preferences to choose from. 

In the left-hand Available Reports pane:

  1. Select the report type
    • The Parameter and Value panes will populate
  2. Select the value for each parameter

  1. Sort lists
  2. Export your report

You have chosen your report preferences.

Sorting Lists 

You can sort the lists within a report in the Sort pane. If there are no line items in the Sort pane, there is nothing to sort. The top line item in the Sort pane is the field the system uses to sort the list alphabetically.

To choose the sorting field:

  1. Click the button that is left of the line item
  2. Drag and Drop the line item at the top of the list

Under the Ascending column:

  1. Check the checkbox
    • This sorts the list in ascending order (A-Z)
  2. Uncheck the checkbox
    • This sorts the list in descending order (Z-A)

The list is now sorted.

Selecting Export Method

The Report window toolbar has six export methods. After selecting an export method, the Report window closes and saves your preferences. You must reopen the Report window from the left-hand Navigation menu to access the report again. Please see below for a table outlining report export methods.

Default Viewer Preview the report using the default application of the selected save format Save the save format in Selecting Report preferences
Preview Preview the report using the Comsense Previewer

In preview, you can Open in default viewer, Save, Email, and Print

Quick Print Send the report to the printer with no prompt You cannot select printing preferences
Print Send the report to the printer with prompt You can select printing preferences 
Save Save the report preferences and save the report in selected Save Format  
Email Email the report via Outlook in the selected Save Format The Report window closes before Outlook opens
