How to: Create hardware sets for your estimating project.

Opening a Project

Type your project code in the Project field and press Tab.

Or in the Hardware window top toolbar:

1. Click Open
   • Project Search window will open 

Above the column headers:

2. Search & select your project 

3. Click OK

You are now ready to create hardware sets for your project.

Creating a Hardware Set 

In the Sets tab's first fillable line item: 

1. Fill in the set details

Next to No. of Openings field: 

2. Click ...
   • Openings for Hardware Set will open 
3. Fill in the opening details for each opening that uses the same hardware set
4. Click Save/Close

You are now ready to add hardware to your set.

Adding Hardware

Short Code

You can individually add hardware to your set using the Short Code field. 

In the Short Code column:

1. Type the manufacturer's product number or a part of it 
2. Press Tab
   • The Catalog Product Search window will open with a list of products
3. Select the appropriate product
4. Click Select and Return
   • The Available Finishes window will open 
5. Select the finish
6. Click OK
   
   • The Worksheet window will open 
7. Select any hardware or installation options
   • Click the Table Icons to open the options window

8. Click OK

You have added hardware to your set using short code.

Managed Product or Product List

In the Hardware Estimate window:

1. Right-click the empty Short Code field
2. Select either: 
   1. Search
      • Opens Catalog Search window to search hardware catalogs
   2. Search Managed Product
      • Opens Hardware Managed Product to search all in-stock hardware

3. Complete steps 3-8 from Adding Hardware by Short Code

You have added hardware to your set from the Product Search window.

From Other Projects

If your hardware set is identical or very similar to another project, you can copy the entire hardware set instead of adding the hardware individually. 

In the top toolbar of the Hardware Estimate window:

1. Create a New Hardware Set
2. Click the Copy From icon
   • The Copy From window will open

2. Search the project using either:
   1. The project code in the Project field
      • Type project code and Press Tab
   2. Project Search window
      
      • Click Open Project icon and Search the Project

3. Select any line item in the original hardware set
4. Click OK
   • Your set will populate 

5. Click Save

Your set now has the other set's hardware.

The next time you copy a hardware set, the last project will open. To clear the search field, Click the Eraser icon.

Special Products

Special Products is a feature that allows you to create products that are not in the Catalog Database.

In the Hardware Estimate window:

1.  Right-click the empty Short Code field
2. Click Special Products
   • The Worksheet for Special Products window will open

3. Fill in the Worksheet window fields

4. Click OK
5. Click Save

Your set now has a special product.
