Question: What is the difference between hardware sets and hardware headings?
Environment: Comsense Advantage
*Note: Hardware sets are created in Estimating's Hardware window.
A hardware set is a generic set of hardware that you apply to a group of openings to estimate the project pricing. All openings with the same hardware set have mostly the same hardware with similar pricing but not the exact same hardware. The purpose of using a generic set of hardware rather than opening-specific hardware is to quickly determine an accurate estimate for your bid and contract. You cannot change hardware sets in Detailing and must refine your hardware sets using hardware headings instead.
*Note: Hardware headings are created in Detailing's Complete window.
A hardware heading is an accurate and complete collection of hardware that is opening-specific. Hardware headings refine hardware sets to the exact project requirements. By default, Detailing ignores hardware sets after the hardware headings are defined i.e. you cannot use an opening's hardware set once you define the heading. You can only use a hardware set after a hardware heading has been defined if you check the Allow Hdw Set Change checkbox in Detailing's Projects window. You can check the Allow Hdw Set Change checkbox anytime during Detailing. Hardware headings are created in Detailing's Complete window.
