Updating Building Area or Phase using a Change Order

Purpose: Update the Building Area or Phase in a project through a change order.

Environment: Comsense Advantage (ver. 24.4.100.31 or later)

How it Works:

You can update the Building Area or Project Phase in the Master Schedule grid of a project.

Complete the following steps for making the desired changes:

  1. Ensure that the Automatic Section Break (ASB) is enabled for your project.

    NOTE

    In a change order when Automatic Section Break (ASB) is enabled: In a change order when ASB is not enabled:
    • If the given building area is an ASB criterion, the opening building area can only be changed when the original opening quantity is 0.
    • If the given phase is an ASB criterion, the opening phase can only be changed when the original opening quantity is 0.
    • The opening building area can be changed.
    • The opening phase can be changed.
  2. Create an internal change order for the project, and set the opening quantity to 0.
  3. Sell the change order. Refer to the article Selling a change order to know how to sell a change order.
  4. Now create a new internal change order and set the opening quantity back to the previous value.
  5. Based on your requirements, specify the new Building Area or Project Phase in the Master Schedule grid.
    NOTE: The new Building Area or Project Phase appears in section names while viewing the components in the Pricing window.
  6. Sell the change order.
